A geometric sculpture that reveals the art of opening wine.

Geometry by Margherita Matticari

Designed in Paris by Italian designer Margherita Matticari, Geometry embodies an authentic vision where contemporary design meets exceptional craftsmanship. Functional, elegant and timeless, this piece marks her second collaboration with L’Atelier du Vin, following the Nomad Collection in 2021.

Gift box or sculpture?

Geometry is both. Conceived as a box-sculpture, it transcends pure function. When closed, it is composed of two perfectly balanced triangles. When opened, it reveals a circle at its heart, framing the iconic Oeno Motion Gold corkscrew.

The circle echoes the instantly recognizable form of the corkscrew, while triangle and circle evoke body and spirit. Minimalism is pushed to its purest expression: essential lines, bold contrast, restrained emotion.

This is not a static object. Closed, Geometry is decorative presence. Opened, it becomes an invitation: to uncork a bottle, to share a wine, to begin a ritual.

Design, materials and craftsmanship

The structure is crafted from black lacquered wood, a deep, refined finish long associated with the world of luxury. The dialogue between matte black and radiant gold enhances the geometric forms and intensifies visual emotion.

When opened, the dark interior accentuates the brilliance of the Oeno Motion Gold, crafted in stainless steel with a luminous gold finish. Each Geometry piece is handmade, making every set unique.

Its interplay of shapes and perspectives finds its natural place on a mantelpiece, a coffee table or among books on a shelf. It is an object designed to live alongside art and architecture.

The geometry of wine: a flawless mechanical ritual

Inside this sculptural form lies an oenological treasure: the Oeno Motion Gold lever corkscrew. Its precise and reliable mechanism allows effortless cork extraction.

The gesture is intuitive: position it firmly on the neck of the bottle, lower the lever to insert the worm into the cork, then raise it to extract smoothly. Remove the corkscrew and repeat the movement to release the cork.

This back-and-forth motion is subtly echoed in the sliding movement of the Geometry box itself, opening and closing as a tribute to the art of revealing and concealing the ancestral secrets of winemaking.

Oeno Motion Gold Geometry, an exceptional corkscrew

Powerful and ergonomic, this collector’s bottle opener is designed to last, an heirloom to be passed from one generation to the next.

Each metal component of its mechanism has been carefully studied, reinforced and perfected by designers and engineers to achieve the ideal balance between robustness, fluid movement, opening reliability and refined design.

Compatible with all bottle formats and cork types, it offers a distinct ergonomics compared to the traditional sommelier corkscrew, waiter’s friend, twin-blade or double-lever systems. It is particularly valued for delicate extractions, especially when opening a fine bottle that has matured patiently in the cellar.
